Are you a Black Friday shopper? I’m not.
I actually have done the whole Black Friday thing, but only once. It was my first time and last time all rolled into one. I was married to (or maybe dating?) my ex-husband at the time and it was way before kids. I remember getting up early, like 3 am early, to stand in line at Best Buy so that we could get a wrist band to get into the store when it opened at 5 am. I can’t remember what was worth getting up four hours early and standing outside in the freezing cold, but it had to be good, right?
Wrong.
After approximately 90 minutes outside in the freezing cold with about 100 other lunatics people, there was a mad rush when the Best Buy folks opened the door at 5 am and we never even ended up with what we went there for. All we got was shoved around and a bunch of bruises to show for our efforts. It was so not worth it and I vowed that day that I would never do it again. As far as I am concerned, my time alone is worth way more than any deal that any store could offer.
And since I value my time, energy and most importantly, sleep, so highly, it got me to thinking what would be worth my time. Honestly, there’s very little, but here are a few and honestly – there would be no guarantee that I would even actually get up and stand in the cold for these deals.
- A $10 pair of Uggs. Saving approximately $200 may be enough to get me out of my warm, cozy bed 3 to 4 hours early, but it may not. It would depend on my mood and the weather that day, but an offer like this would catch my eye for sure.
- A brand name laptop (ie Dell) for $50 bucks. And it would have to be pink.
I tried to think of something…anything else I would get up for, but frankly, I’ve got nothing. Like I said, I value my sleep and time way to much to be bothered with Black Friday. If you do go out looking for deals, good luck to you. When you’re outside in the freezing cold waiting for the stores to open, think of me cuddling up in my warm bed.
