Raising boys isn’t for the faint of heart and I can tell you this from firsthand experience. There are some things I wish I’d known about raising all boys before I began this journey. Here are ten things I wish I knew:
#1. Boys are so Sweet
You always hear all of the negative things about raising boys, but you hardly ever hear the positive. I wish I knew how sweet boys are because I would have had ten more (just kidding).
#2. Boys Love Dirt
I don’t know how many times I have to tell my sons to stop digging in the dirt. You let them outside for two minutes and they’re covered in dirt. No one told me how dirty boys get.
#3. Boys Make Great Brothers
I can’t imagine not having both of my boys because they make such great brothers. I honestly never knew how awesome having multiple boys could really be and the best part is that they impact my life on a daily basis.
#4. Boys Have ENERGY
I know they say kids have energy, but boys come supercharged or something. Since the day my boys were born they started running around causing all kinds of awesome mayhem.
#5. Bodily Noises are Funny
In my years as a woman, bodily noises have never been funny. As soon as I started having boys, the noises they make are funny nearly all of the time. Just the sound of them is pretty funny.
#6. Lots of Nakedness
Boys have absolutely no problem running around naked. This isn’t something I was aware of before I had boys. I still don’t understand the perks of running around naked, can anyone explain this to me?
#7. Mama’s Boys
No matter what anyone tells you, there is nothing wrong with being a mama’s boy. Those boys will come out your womb loving you something fierce. All you can do is return the love. I honestly never knew how much boys could love their moms.
#8. Boys LOVE Food
I seriously can’t believe how much my boys love to eat. Before I had a house full of boys, this wasn’t something that crossed my mind. In one sitting, my boys can devour a whole piece of pizza. I don’t know if I’m prepared for the teenage years that are full of eating and more eating.
#9. Invest in Legos
Seriously, I never knew how much boys loved playing with little blocks of plastic. It’s amazing how many hours my kids can spend with their Legos, while they build amazing things. I enjoy watching them build their favorite masterpieces and watch their wheels turn.
#10. You’ll Meet Some Cool Women
I have to say that I’ve met some of the coolest women because I’m a mom to all boys. We’re a special breed and proud of it. I never knew that raising boys would bring such great friendships and that’s a fact.
